In my humble opinion, UX designers are design special forces. But here, in the concept of design, I do not invest design, but rather design in the Western (wider) sense of it.
As mentioned above, you need practice and knowledge in related fields. Without understanding how the interface will be drawn, laid out and programmed, all this makes no sense. And without practice, theory will be dead. For the first time there will be enough classics in the form of Krug, Cooper, Nielsen and Tufte + a sufficient amount of practice.
Do you really think that UX can be learned by reading a few articles/books?
See my question: What are some good books and materials on interface and website design to learn?
In order to be successful in UX, you need to put in enough time as a web designer. After reading a couple of books, nothing will come of it.
1) How long does it take to master this profession?
It's impossible to master it! This is clearly seen on today's sites.
2) What should be read, studied, what should be familiarized with? It is advisable to list the recommended good books, articles, websites, training videos, youtube channels.
If you want, you can explore good color combinations.
The best indicator is to put a person with a liberal arts education behind his interface and let him work.
3) What skills and qualities do you need to have to work in this profession?
Laziness. Picky.
