How is the attachment of a photo in a contact organized?

I'm very interested in how photos, videos and other files are attached to posts and comments. Similar (but made to look worse) on Facebook.
Picked in search of clues to the VK API. And there mounts are given in the form of photo_. But it doesn't give me a clue how it's organized in the database even.

in the database in the right place is a link to the image (url or path to the file).
when the script renders data from the database, it appropriately inserts the image into the page code.

No one except the developers knows what the VK database looks like. If you don’t understand how images are uploaded to VK via api, then this is done by a post request.
