How is entropy calculated? And 1000 requests per second seems like a very small number.

According to this algorithm, the entropy of a human-made password made up of 8 characters, not containing capital letters and not containing non-alphabetic characters, will be about 4 + 7 * 2 = 18 bits. I'd really like to see a web server that allows you to hit it more frequently.
