Under the hood, HarfBuzz is used to determine the placement of glyphs.
State of Text Rendering . The article is more than 10 years old, but it allows you to understand how rendering has developed historically. Behdad, I think, was one of the key developers in rendering.
FreeType, in fact, rasterizes glyphs with given coordinates, font, color, and other characteristics.

In Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CS6, 3D painting functionality was available in Photoshop Extended. All the features of Photoshop Extended are available in Photoshop CC. Photoshop CC does not have a special Extended edition.
The default rendering mode is Default, which displays the visible surfaces of models. Vertices and Wireframe modes display the basic structure. To use the Solid and Wireframe modes together, select a preset with a combination of the two modes. To display the model as an elementary cube, the dimensions of which correspond to the dimensions of the original model, select the Bounding Box preset.
At the top of the 3D panel, click the Scene button .
