How good is Xamarin?

The following question is of interest: what increase in development speed does Xamarin give if you write a project for Android, IOS and WP? Does it make sense to write on it at all if you can learn this or that platform, but for a longer period? And what is the size of the "empty" compiled apk file?

in short,
if the applications are light in load - the difference is small
if the applications are "large" - there will be a difference
PS the fastest will be native language - IMHO - ios - swift /objective c || android - java / maybe c++
but this info is exclusively from the habr post that I read somewhere 4-5 months ago :)
so google it on the habr website,
this is not my exact answer :)

there was an opinion that xamarin is when you need to quickly develop and show the client prototypes for all platforms.
In production, I've only seen xamarin-based products in the corporate sector, where the performance problem, for example, is solved by handing a more powerful piece of hardware to an employee.
