How else can you make notifications other than sms and e-mail?

Hello!
The client wants a project that has quite a few event notifications for the user (new subscribers, new private messages, bid changes, and so on). We are trying to figure out how to make notifications in the most efficient way. SMS is not suitable due to the high cost (there will be tens of thousands of notifications per day). E-mail is unreliable (not everyone will look at it right away, not everyone will leave the correct address). Are there any other ways or is it worth making an application with a notification from it?
Is it possible to somehow use Viber or Telegram for this?
Thanks for answers.

Telegrams have an excellent api that will allow you to do this, I personally saw an online chat for a site on telegrams.
