How does the laptop battery life extension thing work?
Who can explain in a simple way how the function in the laptop manufacturer's software works, which limits the battery level to a certain limit, say, up to 80-90%.
Please do not kick much, not special. according to battery technology, but I think this is only done to avoid overheating at 100% charge when the laptop is heavily loaded and not disconnected from the mains. That is, the logic is to operate the battery in acceptable temperature conditions, because when the charge reaches 90-100%, the battery itself starts to heat up and increase the temperature in the case in addition to other elements that give off heat (processor, video card ...). Of course, everything is IMHO and we are talking only about lithium-ion.
In general, in my opinion, if the laptop (or any other device on Li-ion) does not suffer from overheating, then you can not turn on this proprietary feature and not deprive yourself of 15-20% autonomy.

The point is that at 100% charge, the voltage in the battery is higher, and they degrade faster because of this.
Like so.
This function maintains the battery charge within the recommended limits - 10 - 80%
