How does the automatic time update on the phone work?

In the phone settings, there is a checkbox like “Update time automatically” (apparently, the phone should receive information from the mobile operator), but the time has not yet been switched from standard to summer.
For the sake of the experiment, I decided not to manually change the time for at least a day and see if the automatic correction works.
PS Nokia 6230i + MTS.

The correct time zone must be specified.
MTS Moscow + Android - transferred

None of our operators really works time transfer.
Abroad, this option worked for me.
My N900 changed the time itself, like all normal Linux :)

Well, there are also options:
- full synchronization with the operator
- synchronization with the operator of only the date, but not the time
- independent time setting
Depending on these options, either the operator will set the clock for you, or he will take care that you do not think that tomorrow is Victory Day, or, what is most interesting, _if your phone supports this function, it will take care of everything. For example, my phone switched itself, and the Samsung lying next to it is not the latest model, it orients itself in time worse. And the technical side itself - the same as that of any OS - depends on how the device is programmed.

On phones with gprs, I noticed that the time is not translated until you set it up. That is one way through the Internet. In phones without boarding, either it will not work at all, or by sending a service request.
I remember for a long time I had some kind of old Nokia, so when I inserted a Beeline SIM card into it, when registering on the network, it offered to set the exact time. And she did it. There was no internet on the phone.
Check your timezone settings.

MTS does not bother with such trifles. Over the hillock, the telephone was translated by itself (as far as I remember, with a message from the operator).
