How does old hardware work on macOS High Sierra?

Hello!
I have an old MacBook Pro 13" already in 2010 (Mid 2010, MacBookPro7,1). On board it has an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz. I understaffed it with 16 Gb memory and a 120 Gb SSD (+ HDD 1 Tb).
Now OS X Yosemite (10.10.5) is installed on it. Performance is fine. But new versions of the programs I need do not want to be installed, and there are some problems in the OS itself (iCloud does not work, for example). I need to upgrade to a more modern one OS, for example, macOS High Sierra (10.13)
.I will work in IDEA and PhpStorm. But can I?This laptop fits the system requirements, but how well will it work?Won't using such an old laptop on a new OS become a torment?

High Sierra is fast enough on an SSD and 8+ GB of RAM.
The main thing is to optimize the operation of the SSD as expected, namely Trim.
Well, it is desirable, of course, all folders with downloads and temporary files on the HDD.
I did it myself, it works very well.
And yes, one more thing: CleanMyMac helps a lot.
