How does offline equipment work in 1C?

You need to connect a mobile cash register to 1C (UT11), the instructions say:

The Mobile Cash Desk configuration supports two-way data exchange with standard configurations on the 1C:Enterprise platform. Supports data exchange in the format "1C: Offline equipment"

In UT11, you can create an offline cash register, click the checkbox Equipment / Connected equipment / Exchange with connected equipment, and exchange rules are configured.

Probably a stupid question, but how can an offline cash register in 1C connect to the device physically, do you need to connect it with a usb wire or something else?

The exchange takes place via an Internet channel, through a Web service.

Driver dependent. Sometimes through files, sometimes through a (virtual) com port. In theory, it can also be through web services. It should be described in the manual for the piece of iron and its driver.
