How does Google Chrome manage to upload a folder with the structure saved to itself on Google Drive through a browser?
No add-ons and other client side except the browser itself is not installed. Google chrome can take a folder (scan or whatever it does) and upload it to google drive. The question is relevant, how does it do it, why does it grant access to the file system without permission. If you know anything about the technology he uses, please share. The FileSystem API and File API may be used, but not a fact.

By itself, Google Chrome can upload folders, for this you can use this thing with an input element. But browser support for this is not very good, so Google Drive most likely uses something else - for example, the File API you mentioned (it is likely that they give different implementations for different browsers).
If you are talking about how Chrome even has read rights, then the answer is simple, and, most likely, was scrolled through somewhere in the middle of the user agreement. By the way, if you enter file:/// in the address bar in Chrome, then you get a "non-file manager" - it reads files starting from the root itself (in Linux)
