How does freelance layout work get done?

Hello. I’m slowly studying the front-end, periodically checking orders on the freelance exchange, I already feel that I could do some simple things (add blocks to the landing page, correct or add something in the finished code, and the like). Tell us how you provide the contractor with access to the code in the finished project, which is already on the hosting.

Tell us how you provide the contractor with access to the code in the finished project, which is already on the hosting.

Perhaps they will give you a ready-made docker or vagrant where the whole environment is already set up. And a detailed description-instruction on how the customer built the workflow.
Or they will give you the address of the git and the key or password to it. You clone a repository for yourself, create a branch, make all the changes there, commit, it is deployed to the test server, then tests, release, everyone is happy.
Or, if the project hasn't started yet, they give you an archiver with the work of your predecessor, and then you return the updated version.
Or they give you FTP access to an already running project. You try to raise a copy at home, but it doesn’t work, because there is already a server code, and not just layout, and it wants a database, and another 100,500 dependencies that you don’t know how to resolve, because you are a layout designer, not an admin and not a programmer at all. Then you call on some shaman who will teach you a great witchcraft - to implement a check directly on a live site, like "if there is such and such a cookie, connect such and such a css-ku". And you're fucking right on the living, constantly twitching, and cursing the entire industry.
At the same time, you console yourself with the hope that you got involved in this nightmare for the last time, and next time orders without a git go to the forest, well, in extreme cases, let there be an archive, although how much do you offer for adding two items to the menu?

Common scenario.

  1. Turn on psychic mode
  2. Ask the client for the most detailed Wishlist
  3. Studying someone else's code
  4. Complete the task
  5. Trying to pass
  6. Fend off small Wishlist for 15 minutes. for 3 kopecks from previous customers

If we take small projects, then in 99 percent of cases it's just FTP access
