How does Firefox disable updates?

The question is rather banal, but for some reason the update for version 50.0 is not turned off by regular means
either through the standard settings or through about: config
, tell me how you can completely disable updates for this browser?

Settings-Advanced-Updates-Never check for updates (not recommended: puts security at risk)

The above recommendations do not help, Firefox Portable 56.0.2 is still being updated, some kind of nonsense. A new Firefox without the right add-ons is a useless hoax, and they try hard to sell it.

First, delete the latest version of the browser so that it does not update itself, then do it in the desired version, immediately install it ↓
≡ > ⚙ Settings > ⚙ General > Firefox Updates > Allow Firefox > select ⚫ Check for updates, but let you decide whether to install whether them.
If you just update the latest version to the old one, it will update itself, no matter what you turn off there. Therefore, in the control panel, in the uninstall programs section, only the version you need should remain.
