How does angularjs get the field value (value) from input text?

I'm trying to understand how angular gets the value property of a text form (first example on the site). I checked and didn't see any form events or callbacks like oninput, onkeypress, onkeyup, etc. Maybe the events are listening on parent elements? I've tried everything and still don't understand. Thank you.
