How does an MX DNS record work?
Good afternoon!
How does an MX DNS record work?
If I set up an IMAP server, attach it to the imap.mysite.com subdomain, make an MX record @ -> imap.mysite.com, will my IMAP server receive it when I send a message to [email protected]?
Or does it work completely differently? As then?

The non-IMAP SMTP server, before sending an email to [email protected], gets all MX records for the example.com domain and tries to connect to the SMTP servers specified in these records in order of priority. If the connection is established, then enumeration of records ends. If there was no connection with any server, then the sending of the letter is delayed for the interval specified in the settings.
