How does a signal jammer work?

Please clarify on the subject of signal jammers.
There was a need to make a jammer for signals in the range of 2.7-2.9 GHz (it is supposed to put direct noise interference in a specific range, those, as I understand it, "hammer the air", and the need to use a directional antenna was discussed, weight-dimensions and power do not matter) .
I understand the general principle at the teapot level, but when I started rummaging through the sites I somehow got lost.
Maybe someone can throw a link to a tutorial, website, video or something like that.
ps I wanted to consider at least some specific options or schemes, or at least understand at a simple level what works and how.
p.s. i would appreciate any help

First you need to distinguish between active and passive. Passive ones simply fill the air with "white" noise. Active ones transmit at the moments of transmission of third-party systems. Hence the different circuitry: in the passive generator and signal amplifier, and in the active, a transceiver with a microcontroller can be used, which transmits only at specific points in time.
Naturally passive are the easiest to implement.
