How do you use Dropbox?

For many , Dropbox is just easy-to-access file storage, but that's not the only way to use it.

For example I use Dropbox

  • to synchronize FF bookmarks on work and home computers
  • I keep Portable KeePass on it
  • I keep a couple of small projects that are under development, so I can easily return to finalize them from almost anywhere, and also have their current version on the test server
Please share some interesting examples.

Well, of course, as a full backup (I set up symlinks), so that all my work and documents are always available online
. Like a ball with team members (we post screenshots, documents, ideas in a ball). Very useful, the notification that the file has been added occurs immediately and the work does not take long. Ideas are generated)
How to transfer files to an iPhone. (Although I don’t see any special advantages over some iFile, it’s just a matter of habit already)
Like a flash drive (I carry all my homework to the university through dropbox), respectively, I download it immediately at the university from the web interface.
Configs for all IDEs. A very useful thing, especially in the university, where everything is reset to default after a reboot. I sat down, downloaded the config, fed the IDE and everything was like at home, poked a couple, turned off the computer, everything was erased by default by itself)

Maybe someone will be interested in such an opinion. Several times I tried to accustom myself, but in the end I carry a laptop with me everywhere. I store important and working documents in Google Docs, if the rest is lost, I won’t grieve.

It is very convenient to synchronize different business documents/scripts and more if you work not alone, but with someone in a team… you always see all the updates + the people you work with are also aware of what is happening :)

Small projects and experiments on html & js along with a git repository. I know there is a github for this, but I keep forgetting to push the latest copy there so I can continue somewhere else where I left off.

Instead of a file sharing service, for exchanging files with your phone.
And for backups, it would really be a shame to lose.

The history of messages in QIP is synchronized so that there is one copy of the history at work and at home.
And also, since I'm studying now, they do various jobs. It’s also convenient, both at home and at work, when I have time, I do everything in “one copy”.

To synchronize FF bookmarks, I recommend Firefox Sync. IMHO, a more native and correct solution. It can also synchronize passwords, bookmarks, settings, tabs.

I use it to exchange study files with my classmates. I keep all sorts of small projects in order to have access to them from anywhere and not produce a bunch of files. I also post files from it that I mention in my blog notes (source codes, programs, etc.) - my blog has a small traffic, so they don’t ban, but people who still get to my blog can download the file without delay and advertising, yes and it's easy for me to upload files.

My .profile for the console is synchronized with the dropbox (so that all servers and locally have the same, familiar settings).
I also put a symlink on the folder with history and settings from adium (now ICQ stores all settings and history on the dropbox, very convenient for using one win on several computers)
I tried to make the chrome settings symlink, but it constantly uploads the changed files, and they are many weigh.
I send more photos from the iPhone through dropbox to my friends.
Well, I also store there what is far to erase and does not weigh much :)
