How do you edit code with a colleague in Visual Studio?

Good day! Please share your knowledge of collaborative development in the Visual Studio environment. Interested in the possibility of parallel editing of the code in the same file (for example, as in Google documents). Of course, I know about LiveShare , which turned out to be very inconvenient for me for several reasons:
1. Switching between functions, object types does not work (by clicking Ctrl + Mouse on the function name)
2. Lags, with an unstable Internet
3. To restart the project, you need to select a project to run from the drop-down list.
Or maybe there is the possibility of working in LiveShare over a local network?

What about Git? Does it provide collaborative editing, or is its purpose only to store the revision history of the code?

It is not clear why this is necessary. But if you really want to, then the easiest way is for one person (leader) to work in any convenient IDE and share the screen (screen sharing) via Zoom, Slack, etc. And other developers can either dictate the code or send pieces via chat.
But this option is suitable only at the design stage.
