How do you create server snapshots on Linux?

In order not to turn off the machine, I use sync to create VPS snapshots so that the data is synchronized.
And here the question arises. Is there any procedure for exiting this command? Or does the server start working normally after synchronization?

How do you take snapshots? Or just clicked create and don't bother?
