How do services like Vkontakte send SMS?

They don’t sell anything with these SMS, do they really pay money for them?
And banks, every time you enter the Internet bank, SMS comes. Do they have any unlimited package? Who knows what?

There are special services that are connected to operators directly.
You apply to such a service, buy a HUGE SMS package, they give you a discount - and SMS will cost you inexpensively.
Alternative option:
Connect your computer to a GPRS modem and send through it at regular rates.
Why unlimited?
Banks and Contact have so many millions of dough that penny SMS is nothing for them.
They pay more money for their office furniture.
For example, these SMS allow a bank to make an additional reliability of an online bank, where customers are engaged in self-service.
That allows to reduce bank employees. Calculate how much you can send SMS on the salary of at least one laid-off bank clerk.

I think banks issue soft loans to companies or their employees, and for this they receive ball SMS. And social networks give advertising, and in return receive SMS.
It seems that at the SMS center I saw a level 6 discount if you place their button on the site))
