How do multiple servers work within the same project?

I have a virtual server, on it parse-server, as I understand it, at some point one server will not be enough to handle the load, in total - how to distribute the load among the servers?
As I understand they should have one database?

read about load balancers. for example, the same respected nginx can act in such a role.
as for one database, the architecture of your application is known only to you.
