Who should own the /var/www (apache) folder?

After installing Apache on Raspbian, root has permissions to /var/www. So should you leave it? Or create another user and transfer rights to him? If it is possible with explanations - for what.

That's when you can answer the question "for what" - then you will get the answer to the first part of the question.

Well, as far as I know, for example, in Ubuntu, Apache user is www-data, I think it should also be in raspbian. I think the rights are those that by default should be the most correct.

I would leave the default permissions, but the contents of this directory can be set owner and permissions as needed.
