How do I set up network printing on a Winindows 7 x32 PC and a Windows 7 x64 PC?

There is a public printer (xerox phaser 3117) connected to a PC running Win 7 x32. You need to set up printing from a PC running Windows 7 x64. The printer is visible on the network. From the context menu, select "Connect". The printer is added to the system but does not print. Both PCs are in the same workgroup. According to the idea, when connecting, Windows 7 x64 should request compatible drivers, but this does not happen. And so on all PCs running Win 7 x64.

Once with a completely different printer, but with similar symptoms, the following sequence of actions helped. Starting position - on the computer from which you want to print, the required printer is not connected and there are no drivers. We go to "Devices and Printers", then to "Properties of the print server", there on the tab "Drivers" and there we add the necessary driver (accordingly, the disk from the printer is needed or the downloaded unpacked drivers). Here the memory fails a little, but in my opinion I added both options and x86 and x64. But after that we connect to the printer in the usual way. Shamanism gives away, but for some reason it helped. Try it.

What prevents you from installing printer drivers on a PC running Win 7 x64?
Here is help from Microsoft:
Open Devices and Printers. To do this, click the Start button Picture of the Start button and select Devices and Printers.
Click the Add Printer button.
In the Add Printer Wizard, select Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer.
Select the desired printer from the list of available printers and click Next.
If necessary, install the printer driver on your computer by clicking Install Driver. Administrator Permission Required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter a password or provide confirmation.
Follow the rest of the wizard and click Finish.
