How do I move the working directory up a level?

For some reason, I didn’t use this method before, I read it and decided that it is still necessary to separate the working files from the system ones for the sake of security. If I understand correctly, then it is necessary to transfer the folders I need to the same level as publick_html, and leave the template, index and images folder in publick, or is there a better approach?

Listen, what are you all reading?
No, I understand that there is a lot of garbage on the network, but why is it now that noobs are knocking down with the same question?
Despite the fact that this nonsense has a very distant relation to safety. No, I can understand absolutely hellish trash from separate executable files, accessing which you can directly exploit something or the fear that PHP will suddenly turn off and all files will start to be given in clear text. But the govnokeod must be corrected in any case, and the likelihood of a shutdown is not the reason to drop everything and start meaningless crossings.
For the current implementation, I would not run and transfer files, but would simply take into account when refactoring.
And instead of this "hole" it would be better to look for something more real. such as dynamic includes, evals, sql injections.
