How do I know who I will be after graduation?

The question of higher education will soon arise. On the site of the Polytechnic University, I found the name of the departments, but their names are very abstract. How to understand what is what and who I can become after graduating from this department? Or who is the best person to approach?
List of departments:

  • Automation and information technology
  • Microelectronics and bioengineering
  • Computers
  • Applied Informatics
  • Theoretical mechanics
  • Informatics
  • Computer science

You need to look not at the list of faculties and departments, but at the list of specialties and areas in which training is provided there. Enough information can be found on the Internet by the code of the field of study.

It's probably better to be who you want to be, no matter how chaotic it may sound.

It's impossible to know. After 1-2 courses, the most agile students understand what the hell we have in 90% of universities and begin to teach themselves. The classic computer scince from the Massachusetts Institute will not be taught anywhere. There are no physically dumb people. The easiest thing here is to look for graduates on vk and see where they work.

YOU GO TO THE UNIVERSITY AND THERE ARE GUYS FROM EACH DEPARTMENT STANDING AT THE ENTRY AND TELLING WHAT THEY CAN TEACH HERE

You look at the directions and specialties in which they teach (first of all, their number), then you look at their standard. If a university issues state diplomas, then all its specialties must comply with the standards. In all universities with filkin's diplomas, it can be whatever you like, but there is nothing to look for in them.
