How did the flash drive come to life?
I received a flash drive with the words "Fix it - take it, no - throw it away."
The volume of the flash drive is 32 GB. When connected, it installed drivers, appeared in the list of devices, but the system considered its volume to be zero, and sometimes it simply said that the device was not connected. Attempts to format and check the flash drive failed. Once I was able to see a message that it was impossible to format the USB flash drive, because it was write-protected.
However, after disconnecting and reconnecting it to the computer, Windows itself offered to format the USB flash drive. I did a quick format and the flash drive became available, but after another disconnection / connection, I again wanted to format it. This time I did a normal formatting and now the flash drive is fully working and no longer dances.
Actually the question is: What was the cause of the breakdown and what caused the repair?

For example, a floating problem with iron (a broken conductor in a printed circuit board that “contacts”). Or a couple dozen other possible reasons.
There is a suspicion that the flash drive actually has a flash chip of a smaller volume than on which it is flashed.
First of all, you need to determine the amount of flash-memory, the company and model of the controller.
Find the firmware for your controller and reflash.
There are utilities on the Internet for this.
Why are there such flash drives?
Cunning and bad Chinese buy cheap flash drives for 8gb, reflash them to a larger volume - 32gb, and then sell them for more. And most importantly, it may not open at first. This is such a scam.
