How dangerous is such a crack?
Depends on what you mean by "danger". There is nothing dangerous for your life, but for the further operation of the laptop - there is, since the crack will obviously not stop there and will expand. One of the hinges of the lid will finally loosen up, there are chances for breaks in the loops in it.
Do I need to change the body?
If you want everything to be perfect, then yes (and even then, you only need to change the cover, and not the whole body). But if it was my laptop, I would try to repair it. No adhesives are suitable for this , it is necessary to reinforce the plastic of the cover with a fine steel mesh. This is done as follows - we release the cover from all the electronics, cut the mesh into strips of the desired length and width such that it captures the damaged area with a margin of 5 ... 10 mm, then press this strip into the plastic with a hot soldering iron, after bringing the edges of the crack close.
1581357292_pl-168.jpgIt is better to cut not like in this photo, but so that the mesh wires go diagonally (this will be stronger). The grid should surround the nearest power points of the cover, i.e. those places where threaded bushings are fused into it and hinges are attached. It is useful then to fill the reinforced place with a thin layer of epoxy. After the resin hardens and the electronic filling of the lid is restored, you can use the laptop.

Well, in order to be beautiful, you can glue and paint something. And so there is no serious danger.

And how did she appear?
Chet is very similar that the loops soured (clogged) and the laptop tried to close with force.
Then it’s better to go to the service to be cleaned / lubricated / replaced, otherwise you can break the matrix in such a way next time.
If you just hit, then glue / replace as desired
