How can v-autocomplete be set to a value after a reboot?

It seems to me that v-autocomplete does not have a property out of the box to set a custom value.
The idea is that I load the list of cities using the API, as the name of the city is typed.
The list is large, about 3,000 thousand. I don't want to preload this entire list.
Now about the problem.
The problem is that after reloading the page, it is desirable to leave at least the name of the city in the input field.
How to do it in this component, I have no idea.
There is an example , but I don't think it suits me, because I don't want to keep a list of items.
Although if you keep only relevant records, as an option.
Is there an easy way?
