How can I receive codes from the device without using raw_event?

I am writing a driver for DS4 that works through the HID subsystem, but I don’t use the system itself to the full, that is, I don’t have a descriptor report on which the interaction between the device and the driver takes place.
I'm using raw_event which accepts the codes of pressed buttons from the device.
How can you accept these same codes, but not using raw_event?
