If the mail is corporate and the mail server is located in the company, then you can find out. In other cases, you can't.

You can find out from the "original letter" - see what headers the client sent, usually even his ip is recorded there and another 100500 lines of all sorts of things.
In google - when you view a letter - where to forward - there is an item "Show original".
In other mail clients, you need to look for where it is hidden.
