How can I discover network devices nearby and collect available information about them?

Imagine a hypothetical situation:
There is a device nearby that uses a wireless network (wi-fi, 3g\4g, etc.).
We do not know the device type. It can be a phone and a laptop or even a kettle.
It is necessary to collect the maximum amount of available information about devices nearby (within the radius of your own Wi-Fi antenna or your own location)
Any data, but technically and legally available, without involving any special services (i.e., "call a friend" is discarded).
The simplest is open access points (their names cannot be connected - they are password protected), what can be collected about them, is it possible to find out the poppy address at least?
How can other devices be detected, in what way? What information can we collect about them?

The answer is obvious: a network scanner. For example nmap .
Procedure: first, we scan the network for the presence of elevated hosts (without masking), for example, like this:
Then, for each found, we go through "personally", with the necessary keys, a full description is attached to the utility. You can find out quite a lot, the poppy address is so accurate, it turns out the manufacturer, type of device, etc. etc.
ps In order to find out the MAC, in general, you don’t need a scanner, like any other special utilities, even on Windows))
