How can I determine how many polygons I can use in a scene?

Good afternoon, with what options can I determine how many polygons my hardware can pull in an Unreal scene? Just look for ready-made models, shove them into the scene and run until they start to freeze or what?

Empirically. Those. by experience. There is no single metric, and besides, polygons are not a panacea - there are also materials, shaders, drawers and other crap.
