I found an article with the answer to my question, are there any alternatives? Is this the best option to connect MySQL to Next.JS? From a security point of view, will everything be fine if you connect the database like this?

With security as well as in any other backend. After all, you are writing the same server part that you would write using not api routes in next.js, but any other technology.
