How can I change the contents of a .sol file?

We have a flash game on the site. Level data is stored locally in a single file with the extension .sol (Local Shared Objects).
You need to change the information in this file. The problem is that this cannot be done through a regular notepad, and special Sol editors do not want to work with this particular file.
