How can a pythonist get into freelancing?

I work as a Python programmer in a data science company. Somewhat familiar with web technologies. Question: if there is a desire to move towards freelancing, what topics / tasks will be most relevant, where should I start, how to attract the attention of customers?

Just register on the exchange as a freelancer. See what orders are available, choose from them those that you can do. If you are 100% sure that you will cope with the task, send your application. There is no need to hurry, in narrow niches you can wait a week or even a month for a suitable order.
A well-filled profile and cover letter increase your chances of getting a job. Start simple, you can depm. You can also write in a Cover letter: "I am a good specialist, but I just started working here. Therefore, I ask for a low price, but a good review from you if I do the task well." This is how I got a customer, on which I first dumped $100, and then there were many more orders from him worth several thousand dollars.

For some reason, many people confuse freelancing and remote work.
Freelancing is primarily not your technical programming skills, but your soft skills in terms of the ability to find an order, sell yourself to a customer, solve legal and financial issues with guaranteed payment, legality and taxes.
