How are products photographed for packaging design?

Are the cookies on the packages photographed or 3D models created? Because they look very neat. I have such a job now, I took cookies for the photographer to do a "photo shoot" for packaging, but we see that the cookies look untidy. Do you have experience on this topic? Or what do you think about it in general?

Good packaging examples:

Completely different methods are used:
3D models are
simply drawing photo
props
with subsequent retouching
, and these are not all options.

When I shoot an advertisement for strawberries with cream, they usually pour glue or paint instead of cream.
And in the picture - most likely an ordinary cookie only under Photoshop. It's cheaper to take a picture and photoshop than to create a 3d model.

I think on a monochromatic tone and then overlay elements in Photoshop

We recently did such a project, photographed just on a white background and then overlaid the background in Photoshop
