How and how to open shortcut files of the seventh Windows and change the contents?

It's not as easy as it might seem at first glance.
How to open the shortcut file itself?
Its extension is not shown (there is a jackdaw in the properties of the folders), so you can’t change it, but yes, it’s so long and unacceptable. I need to open many shortcuts at once and fix the first drive letter there.

Yes, anything that works with the file system directly without asking the explorer:

To open a shortcut file, open it with the extension .lnk.

Agree with all previous answers and add my 5 cents. Maybe Total Commander. Select the shortcut file in it and press F4.
MiiNiPaa is absolutely right. You need to access the file, bypassing the Windows shell. Those. command line, special program and even a banal notepad, but with a few little troubles.
Why do you need it? It would be desirable to understand the purpose that it was possible to advise something concrete. Want to write "super-cunning-virus-changing-everything-shortcuts-so-they-launch-a-second-mega-cunning-virus"? In fact, I would like to understand the purpose. Then our answers will be more meaningful.
