Homebrew or Macports?

Hello, I would like to hear comments about the choice between Homebrew and MacPorts. Now both are in the system and it annoys me a little. I often have to look at the type output in order to find out the binary installed by whom I use, and sometimes change the order in PATH. With the arrival of Mountain Lion, I would like to finally choose what suits me best.
MacPorts suits just about everyone: it's an official solution, well-established, which I can configure, but there are two big drawbacks:

  • fresh versions of not very popular ports are not updated as fast as we would like
  • system-wide installation

The second drawback is very debatable, I've never run into problems with this approach.
On the other hand, Homebrew allows you to add your own formulas without any problems and share them on GitHub, for example. But I had a bad experience with brew, the update procedure broke on another machine and I spent a lot of time fixing it.

brew. For the packages are newer, and more convenient.

I used Homebrew specifically for the ease of creating formulas and setting them up so they can be removed using rm -rf. And the fact that MacPorts is an official solution is not true.

I use homebrew not on the first laptop anymore - the flight is normal.
Initially chose because of the ease of installation / operation, and then got involved. Reminds me of working with packages in my favorite OpenBSD. But that's all IMHO.

I also use brew and have had no problems so far.
