Heroku error when pushing?

I did everything according to the official instructions, through the Heroku Toolbelt. When I try to run: It
git push heroku master
gives the following error:

Push rejected, failed to detect set buildpack heroku/php

What could be the reason?

Solved the problem by adding an empty "composer.json" file to the directory.
