HDMI=> DVI-D adapter and high resolution

Has anyone tried to connect a monitor with a higher resolution (2560x1440) to a laptop with hdmi via an hdmi => dvi-d adapter.
how real is this?
on the monitor, the hdmi connection gives only fullhd (judging by the dock).

1) you won’t get more than 1920x1200 from a laptop
2) I searched for a long time and hard, I found a plate with adapter types in different directions, there are none in nature, although new hdmi (like from version 1.3) should support by themselves; I even bought one adapter on ebay HDMI -> DVI-D Dual Link - it does not work, the computer does not understand the monitor through such an adapter (although, they say, sometimes it can work, but only in 1080p)

It all depends on such, such HDMI you have on your laptop. If version 1.3, then nothing will work, because. this version of HDMI does not support resolutions above 1080p. If 1.4, then this version supports resolutions up to 4K.
