HDD: 2.5" vs 3.5", what to choose?
Good afternoon.
I want to buy a hard drive for myself, I am faced with a choice between 3 TB (3.5 ") and 2 TB (2.5") - around 4 thousand it turns out.
While I'm leaning towards 2.5", arguments "for":
- does not require additional power
- since it will be connected to a laptop, then UPS is not needed
Of the minuses, compared to 3.5", I see only that it is 1/3 less volume.
But I'm more concerned about the reliability of the hard drive.
What is the difference in terms of reliability - 2.5 "through a laptop (UPS) or 3.5" just through the network?
In general, there are MTBF statistics for 2.5" disks in comparison with 3.5", I didn't find one?

here, according to my recent work, that 3.5 and 2.5 failure is 1.1, then with luck it can work for a long time or maybe half a year (
for 9 months of work in the office I replaced more than 100 screws (((screw companies are different, the purchase time is also different
because will connect to a laptop, you do not need UPS
In the context of one hadr, there is no reliability, just make a backup and don’t worry.
