Has Virtuemart 2 changed?

Hello!

There is a task: to make a relatively small online store. Template. In total - about 1200 commodity items.
Once upon a time I worked with Joomla 1.5 and looked towards VirtueMart, but then I came across a flurry of, frankly, not too positive feedback about it and decided to score.

In this regard, the question arose: has anything changed for the better now, with the advent of its new version? Has it become faster and more usable? How are things going with plugins? Has Joomla itself changed?

I would like to know the answers to these questions, well, and your other thoughts on this matter, of course.

VirtueMart 2 is much better than the first, but the legacy remains.
I use JoomShopping, but the free version is copyrighted. Not written perfectly, but acceptable.
There is also Tienda - it is written much better, I even often peep there for successful non-standard solutions for Joomla. But, in my opinion, the free version is cut down to an unusable state.

Joomla itself has grown incredibly much, since 1.5
virtual ... 2 I didn’t use it, but I had to edit the code of the first branch a lot, don’t use it :)
