Hardware for Vmware ESXi?

It is required to collect a wheelbarrow under ESXi. Who will advise what? What kind of problems can there be?
I want a car with core i7, the rest, I think, is not very important. The raid controller will be an external and proven lsi 9240-4i, or something cooler.
In theory, there should be no more problems, but I would like examples from life.

Most likely there won't be any problems. For the test, they put it on a desktop with an atom and an ordinary gigabyte mother without controllers, of course - she got up.

Oh yeah. Hardware support in ESXi 5 is expanded, although not always officially. I got on the desktop mother ASUS P8H67-M. I even picked up the integrated network card, although it was not possible to turn on the jumbo. VMFS marked out on the local screw. For tests, it's just some kind of fairy tale.

VMware has a complete list of 100% compatible hardware that will work seamlessly with ESXi.

Tell me how much the server will lose in performance during its virtualization?
Is it possible to virtualize a web server with a high load, or is it better not to?
