Handy plugin for syntax highlighting?

Syntax highlighting

Tried a few pieces, half too heavy, half don't fit.
Maybe there is some kind of JS lib that allows syntax highlighting both in textarea in real time, and in pre or code? The maximum text size is 5k characters.

Have you tried CodeMirror ? Today it is the best and is actively developing.
