Handwriting recognition?

Text recognising

There is a table in a notebook in a box, drawn on a ruler with a simple pencil. This table has words written in blue pen in cursive letters (not printed). How can this be recognized? I tried the good old ABBYY Fine Reader (it helped me a lot 2 years ago), but it only recognized the table frame, and the words were printed in hieroglyphs.
What and how to recognize handwriting and how to convert it into a Word document and an Excel spreadsheet?
