Handbook for learning java?

A friend asks to teach how to prog on jave, her level is a little more than zero.
What book do you recommend?
I would like something similar to Troelsen c#.
Something understandable and useful =)
It seems that I looked at a couple of topics on the jave toaster, but somehow I didn’t come to the choice of a book.
Which book to choose for learning Java?
here's Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates' "Learning Java" advice.
fit?

Maybe she should play scratch? Where in Java then with a zero level. Let the little men spin around the screen for now, and then look. If you still can't stand it, the first 10 levels of Java Rush are free, it will just understand whether you like it or not.

"Learning Java" is quite suitable, although complete beginners will have questions, but they will pass after a superficial acquaintance with algorithms and solving a couple of dozen such problems.

If completely from scratch, then Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates "Learning Java" is the perfect book. There, the whole series is ideal for starting to study the technologies described. Also good books: Java 8 guide for beginners by G. Schildt and Java SE 8 Basic Course by K. Horstman , but they are not so easy to understand from scratch.
