gridview. Why does cell filling disappear when scrolling?

There is a GridView table of cells: imageview+textview. It is filled with an adapter from a database that contains a color/description and is applied as imageview.setBackgroundColor(0x5ryg654...); The background is applied to the cells at startup, the colors are displayed when scrolling down, but when scrolling back up - the unique colors disappear (no background), as if the GridView is redrawn but without an adapter (i.e., the background specified in xml is applied). Why is that? There are no such problems in ListView, although the approach is the same
