Advise, please, a normal notification about new mail.

Until recently, I used the JGmail plugin for Miranda, but unfortunately, recently it has ceased to work stably, and has not been supported for many years.

The gill part was replaced with a standard Miranda plugin, but it does not support notifications about new emails (which GMail drives over the same XMPP). So far, I got out with the GMail Manager

addon for Firefox, but, like all analogues found, it uses polling with an interval of at least a minute, and the interface is clumsy. "Normal" means: - supporting instant alerts, via XMPP, IMAP or long-polling over HTTPS, and not periodic polling, and certainly not archaic POP3;


- not interfering with the simultaneous work of Miranda, attached to the same Google account;
- preferably made as an add-on to Firefox or Miranda, and not a separate application.

Support for multiple accounts will come down as a bonus, but not critical; In general, the lighter and dumber, the better.
Please do not poke into the search if you yourself have not used it - many people claim to work on IMAP, but inside it turns out to be the same polling.

Any modern email client that supports IMAP IDLE. You can not use the client itself, it will be purely for notifications, if you want.
For example, on a Mac, regular Mail does this more than successfully.

There is a gtalkext plugin for Miranda IM: it uses the jabber API, and does not replace the protocol library itself. The plugin is in beta status and hasn't been uploaded to Addons yet, but it's already working well.
