Get a higher education in information security after college or go to work?
Greetings dear friends! I am addressing you with the following question: finishing the last year of college in the specialty 10.02.03 "Information security of automated systems", the question arose: "Where next? Work or get higher education in your field."
Having studied vacancies on various job search platforms, I came to the following conclusions. Higher education is required almost everywhere, but not in all cases, it should be exactly according to the profile. In many vacancies they write: higher technical education. However, in all vacancies, which is expected, both general experience in this area and experience with specific equipment, technologies, etc. are required.
Initially, I thought to solve the issue by entering a university in my profile for a correspondence course.form of study and work in parallel, but found that training in my profile is carried out only on a full-time basis .
It turns out that the choice arose:
1) to enter a university in my field, in the hope that after graduation, I will be hired without experience.
2) go to work. Even to the tax office, to gain experience, in the hope that in the future, thanks to experience, they will be hired for a more prestigious job. In parallel, I plan to study in a similar technical profile in absentia.

If there is an opportunity to study (financial, for example, that is, parents pay for food, housing and other needs), then knowledge will never be superfluous. And the university is a great opportunity to develop connections and, in fact, eventually find a job through them.
On the requirement for a higher education - I started working more than 18 years ago, and for all the time they never asked for a diploma (only when I got a job), it's just a standard phrase in ads. Unless, of course, we are not talking about government agencies and some particularly stubborn organizations. Look at knowledge and experience.
As for experience, relevant experience is valuable, that is, shifting papers to the tax office, of course, will give an entry in the labor one, but will not help in any way when applying for a job in the field of information security. Moreover, it can even interfere, not everyone is ready to take an "accountant" for the position of an information security specialist, questions arise, why did he not sit in the area where he worked before ...
Brief summary:
1. Higher education is rather useful, but not necessary.
2. It is better to get work experience in the area where you plan to work.
A lot depends on the university. He graduated a year ago in the same specialty, only "10.05.03". In the provinces, education in the field of information security is very weak, and there are few vacancies in normal offices without experience. In any case, in the future in this area you will need a certificate of higher education, but in this specialty there really is no correspondence. Do not forget about the military ID and state secrets for work in government agencies and institutions.
Therefore, I think that it is better to go to study and at the same time look for a job.
