A gas soldering iron is not something convenient to start with, unless, of course, you need to solder copper pipes. A regular soldering iron for 15 bucks is much better in this regard. A gas soldering iron overheats the tip very much, it does not have a normal mechanism for maintaining the temperature at the required level. Overheated solder loses its qualities, becomes dull. Overheated rosin boils and also quickly loses its properties, boils strongly and splashes. An overheated sting quickly oxidizes, it must be constantly cleaned.
The gas soldering iron also has a hole for the combustion products to escape, usually it is on the side of the tip (I have the same dremel at home, it’s just like that), which is quite inconvenient because you need to make sure that when soldering it does not melt or blow off something SMD components (even soldered ones carry away with droplets of molten solder).
So the ideal option for the usual soldering of radio components is a simple 40 watt electric soldering iron, replaceable stings will be a bonus. And for a beginner, temperature control is not particularly necessary.
A gas soldering iron is a nice bonus when you need to solder something and there is no electricity or the socket is very far away. He also has a good knife attachment. it is very convenient for them to cut nylon threads - the ends are immediately crushed and do not bloom.

Buy a Chinese soldering iron for 30 rubles and learn. In everyday life, it is enough for 99 percent of soldering tasks.

Do not waste money, time and materials. Or buy any classic temperature-controlled soldering iron and a few dead motherboards at your local thrift store. By soldering various elements, you can fill your hand at operating temperatures and work with tweezers. And may the gods help you.

Depending on what you want to learn how to solder. Traditional electric ones have a lower heating temperature - about 270-300 degrees.

Your choice of soldering iron.
Pros: mobility, temperature control, nozzles, solder and other equipment.
Cons: the price, the operating time is limited (30min-60min), because the gas is not an outlet.
For training "Boards are assorted and varied.", If in one sentence, then a regular 40W for 150r will do.
In general, I advise cxem.net/beginner/beginner85.php , after watching the movie you will learn the main types of soldering irons: electric, impulse, gas, etc., as well as how to use them.

Why didn’t I just learn to solder ;-)
But for a long time I soldered quite an expensive soldering iron (station) Weller. This is how
you quickly get used to good things, after that it is very difficult for me to overcome disgust and pick up a Chinese soldering iron. Even EPSN-25, once my favorite, began to annoy: it is as long as a stalk from a shovel and heats up for half a day.
But then a Chinese soldering iron for 100 rubles fell into my hands.
Bought as a one time solution for soldering wires in a car.
And what do you think?! I'm literally in love with him ;-) Not Weller, of course, but of the incredible number of Chinese soldering irons, this IMHO is the best and most versatile. And he is the only one with a more or less normal sting out of the box.
